Dentist arrested in Clovis homicide investigation

Forensic evidence led to the arrest this morning of local dentist James Smith in the slaying of Laura McNaughton, according to 9th Judicial District Attorney Matt Chandler. Police briefing from Dec. 19

Additional interviews were conducted this weekend by the Major Crime Unit and additional evidence was also collected. The items collected will be delivered to the DPS Crime Lab in Santa Fe for forensic testing. Currently there has not been any arrests made. Additional information will be available when appropriate.
