Hounds pick up first win

Sophomore Cory Baker passed for 278 yards and three touchdowns in his first start to lead Eastern New Mexico University to a 37-24 win over Southwestern Oklahoma on Saturday night at Greyhound Stadium.


Baker and Southwestern quarterback Steve Day combined for 100 pass attempts in the game.


Jesse Poku had 10 catches for 124 yards and a touchdown for Eastern, which picked up its first win of the season.


The Hounds (1-1) scored the first 16 points of the second half to break the game open.
