This call for help came in an e-mail from Clovis' Community Relations Director Claire Burroughes:

"Chris Doughty has done a great job for the past year working for the city ... in the traffic division (he's one of the guys that makes sure the traffic lights work properly!).  

"Chris and his wife have four children, three boys and a little girl, Katie, who is 4. Katie has had cancer for some time and it is now terminal. 

"The family is trying to spend as much time with Katie as possible, so Chris is missing a lot of work. They are traveling back and forth from Lubbock a lot and these things are putting a great strain on the family's resources.  

"The city of Clovis has opened an account at Citizen's Bank called "Katie's Fund" if you feel you are able to help this little family in time of need.

"Thank you for your consideration."
