Comments 0 | Recommend 0Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
About 2 a.m. Aug. 28 an officer responded to the emergency room at the hospital for a battery victim.
A woman said she was walking in the area of Ninth and Hinkle streets when a male approached and started hitting her with a pole.
She said she was hit in the head and chest, fell to the ground and the man started kicking her. She said she lost consciousness and when she woke he was gone.
The woman said she walked to a nearby store where she saw her ex-husband, who drove her to the hospital.

About 1 p.m. Aug. 28 an officer responded to a school in the 1500 block of Sycamore Street for a student with drug paraphernalia.
School officials said a male student was in possession of rolling papers and a lighter.
The youth told the officer he had the rolling papers because he was going to get some marijuana.
The officer noted intent to issue a juvenile citation.

About 8 a.m. Aug. 29 an officer responded to a business in the 700 block of Edwards for a criminal damage report.
The business owner said he arrived to work and found one of his monument stones scratched and lying on the ground.
He said nearby residents told him the night prior they heard a woman screaming and discovered the stone had fallen over on a man’s leg.
He said they told him it took two men to free the man who was pinned beneath the 1,000 pound stone.
There was no information on the identity of the man trapped under the stone.

About 11 a.m. Aug. 29 an officer responded to a school in the 1400 block of Cameo for narcotics.
A school administrator gave the officer an envelope containing a marijuana joint that was found in a student’s notebook.
The student was suspended and the officer noted intent to issue a citation upon his return to school.
