3-28-08 Police blotter

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:



About 3 p.m. Sunday an officer responded to a report of theft from a home in the 1000 block of Westchester.


A woman said her grandson and a friend came to visit. She said she confronted them about a gun missing from her gun cabinet, and they returned a shotgun one of them had hidden down a pant leg. They left on foot, she said.


The woman said it was the second time she found firearms missing following her grandson visiting.

About 8 p.m. Sunday officers were called to a home in the 900 block of Gidding for a report of a breaking and entering in progress.


Officers arrested two males who were walking away from the door of the residence.


Damage to the door and door frame was documented.


The two men said they were visiting the victim, but the victim told police he didn’t know them.

Around 2 p.m. Monday an officer responded to a report of arson at a park near Sir Echo Drive.


A witness followed two boys she said started a grass fire and led police to their location.


The boys admitted to starting the fire, which burned an area approximately 60-by-80 feet.


The boys were released into the custody of their parents.

About 3 p.m. Monday an officer took a robbery report at the police department.


A man said he was walking in the 800 block of Edwards when he was jumped by three males suspects.


He said he was hit in the head and one of the suspects kicked him while he was on the ground.


He said his house keys, cell phone and cash were stolen.


Officers noted wounds on the man’s face and took descriptive information about the suspects.
