Hunting report deadline approaches

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has announced all deer and elk hunters and trappers who held a license or permit for the 2008-2009 seasons must file harvest reports by Sunday.

Hunters who miss the reporting deadline may still report and be eligible for drawings if they report before the drawing deadline and pay an $8 late fee. The next application deadline is April 8 for public-land deer permits; private-land deer permits in Units 2A, 2B, 2C, 4 and 5A; and draw licenses for elk, pronghorn, antelope, ibex, Barbary sheep, javelina and bighorn sheep.

Failure to submit a report will result in all applications for public draw hunts and landowner authorizations being rejected for the following season.

Furbearer hunters and trappers must report harvest information by April 7.

To report: www.newmexico-hunt.com or toll-free (888) 248-6866.

Information: visit www.wildlife.state.nm.us or 505-476-8038.
