Ticket feature: Clovis, Portales July 4th events set

Portales and Clovis area residents won’t be short on options for celebrating July 4th this year.

Clovis festivities at Greene Acres Park begin at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Anyone not wanting to wait until July 4 to celebrate can join in with Portales’ Smokin’ 3rd Bash 3 p.m. Friday at Greyhound Arena.

Both events include live music, food vendors, arts and crafts and children’s games.

The third annual Matt 25 Boat Races begins at 3 p.m in the Clovis celebration.

Also, people can join a ranger from 7 -10 p.m. Saturday at Oasis State Park for an evening nature walk along the newly-filled three-acre pond.

Ute Lake State Park hosts a prism of lights reflected over Ute Lake during Fireworks at Play, presented by the Logan Chamber of Commerce. Call 575-487-2284 for information.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park is marking the holiday with a special edition of the musical drama Texas at 8:30 p.m. Saturday with extra fireworks and free admission to the park. Call 806-488-2227 for information.
