A 61-year-old Clovis man is charged with shooting his neighbor in the neck Wednesday night and injuring another woman.

The victim, Sandra Bousquet, 36, was in stable condition Thursday at a Lubbock hospital.

Among the charges James Fitzpatrick faces are aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and three counts of aggravated assault, according to a press release from the Clovis Police Department.

Police said Fitzpatrick shot Bousquet in the neck during an argument in her apartment in the 900 block of Jones Street.

He is also accused of “poking” a second woman in the head with the pistol and firing it beside her, causing her injuries to her head, police said.

Police seized a pistol and a rifle from Fitzpatrick’s apartment at 921 Jones St.

It was the second time in recent weeks police were called to a shooting involving Fitzpatrick.

Police said they were at Fitzpatrick’s home Dec. 20 after he reported he had shot and killed his male bull mastiff because it attacked him.

According to police, Fitzpatrick said he shot the dog eight times with a Walther .22 caliber pistol.

Officers decided not to cite Fitzpatrick for firing a weapon inside city limits because of the dog’s alleged aggression, the report said.

Fitzpatrick is being held in Curry County jail in lieu of $70,000 bond, jail officials said.
