Bank receives fourth threat in six months

Clovis police are investigating the fourth bomb threat in six months at Bank of America on North Prince Street.

The bomb threat was reported to police at 11:02 a.m. Wednesday, according to Police Chief Dan Blair.

After more than an hour, police cleared the location and business resumed, Blair said.

Customers were evacuated from the bank and police blocked off the parking lot. Officers checked around the outside and inside of the building before it was reopened.

Bank officials did not return calls seeking comment.

The bank has received three other bomb threats since June.

No arrests have been made in the earlier incidents, Blair said.

“Anytime we get these we take them very seriously,” Blair said.

Bomb threats are classified as fourth-degree felonies and carry a penalty of up to 18 months in jail.

“We’ll investigate (this incident) like we’re investigating the last ones. Hopefully we can get this taken care of,” he said.

“We need the public. They’re the ones that always help us solve these things.”
