July 20, 2008 Police Blotter

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:


At approximately 10 p.m. July 9 an officer responded to an undisclosed location for a possible fight in progress.

A woman said her former boyfriend had been repeatedly calling police and sending them to her house to check on her children. She said she had a domestic violence order against him.

When the man called her cell phone, the officer spoke to him and told him he was not allowed to call her. The man said he was trying to call his children.

The officer checked in the system and found the man had called officers to check on the woman three other times in the previous two days.

The officer noted intent to seek an arrest warrant for stalking.

Around 8 a.m. July 10 an officer responded to a burglary report in the 1300 block of Stafford.

A woman said she got in her car to run errands and discovered papers from the glove box scattered on the seat.

She also found a woman’s purse and a Bible in the car that weren’t hers.

The officer collected the items and located their owners.

About 3 a.m. July 11 an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of Ross Street for an attempted burglary.

A man said he woke to knocking at his door and found a female standing on his porch. He said he heard someone trying to get into the side door of his residence and when he went outside, found a man trying to pry open the door to his vehicle.

He said he brandished his pistol and the suspects ran.

He said he has seen the suspects around the neighborhood before.

About 4 a.m. July 11 police responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Sixth Street for a battery report.

A woman said her former boyfriend came to her home upset about their breakup so she let him in.

She said he went in her room and checked her supply of prophylactics and became enraged because he said one was missing.

She said he held her down, interrogated her and pulled her clothes off.

After she was able to get to her car, she said he broke the window out as she was leaving.

She later returned to find him gone and was able to get dressed and call police.

Around 4 a.m. July 12 an officer responded to the 3000 block of Gidding for a burglary report.

A woman said she was woken by a crash and saw a shadowy male figure in the doorway of her bedroom.

The woman said when she grabbed her phone and began to call 911 he ran toward her living room.

She said she then ran to her 3-year-old son’s bedroom and found his window broken out. As she grabbed her son, she said she heard the front door open as the suspect left.

The officer found droplets of blood on the blinds of the broken window and through the house to the front door.

The only thing missing from the house was a throw blanket taken from the back of a chair in the living room.

About 1 p.m. July 12 an officer responded to a residence in the 3000 block of Wallace for a report of a woman screaming.

A man said he was in his house when he heard a woman screaming and discovered two dogs in his back yard, fighting with his dogs.

The woman said she was taking out the trash when her two pit bulls slipped out of the yard and got into the man’s yard and started fighting with his two mastiffs.

She said it was an accident and she didn’t mean to cause a problem.

All the dogs suffered cuts and other wounds in the fight.

The officer noted intent to forward the report to animal control.
