U.S. House approves $67 million for Cannon Air Force Base projects

Nearly $67 million for Cannon Air Force Base was approved Friday by the U.S. House of Representatives, according to a release from Rep. Ben Ray Lujan , D-N.M.

The FY 2010 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act passed the House of Representatives by a 415-3 vote.

Items for Cannon include:

• $41.3 million for a Special Operation Force fuel cell hangar (MC-130)

• $15 million for a consolidated communication facility: $15,000,000

• $11.595 million for a Special Operation Force American Military University addition (CV-22)

• $450,000 for a 96-room dormitory: $450,000

"With the transition to a Special Operations mission at Cannon, we are expecting additional personnel to come to Clovis and the base," Lujan said. "It is important that Cannon has the funding to grow in order to accommodate this increase in personnel. This funding is important as Cannon begins a new mission that will improve our national security and benefit the surrounding community."
