Cannon to participate in Haiti quake aid

The 27th Special Operations Wing at Cannon Air Force Base is getting involved in rescue operations in earthquake devastated Haiti.

A press release issued by Cannon public affairs said the base is preparing two MC-130W Combat Spear aircraft from the 73rd Special Operations Squadron.

The release said both aircraft were deployed Wednesday in support of humanitarian operations in Haiti.

A powerful earthquake flattened whole neighborhoods on Tuesday, and officials in Haiti feared thousands may have perished.
