Grady producer appointed to cattlemen’s beef board

The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture appointed Grady beef producer Wesley Grau to a three-year term on the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, according to a board press release.

A wheat farmer and a partner/owner of Grau Charolais Farm and Ranch Grau, took the oath of office during the 2009 Cattle Industry Convention in Phoenix, Ariz, according to the release.

The board oversees administration of the national Beef Checkoff Program, according to the release.


Local radio announcer opens bike shop

Longtime Clovis radio announcer Grant McGee and his wife Gail Sharpe have opened a bicycle shop.

Located at 209 West Grand Ave., Bike Dude opened Feb. 7, according to McGee. The store handles new bicycles, parts and accessories for sale as well as bike repairs and service.

Sharpe is the store’s manager and McGee takes care of repairs and sales, according to McGee.

Bike Dude is open noon to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, according to McGee.

McGee is still the morning announcer for radio station KTQM.


Ag expo Feb. 24-25 in Portales

The 17th annual New Mexico Agricultural Expo is being held Feb. 24-25 at the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds, according to the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce Web site.

The expo is scheduled 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
