Tom Wopat is bringing his new jazz show Love Swings to Clovis Oct. 10.

He will play at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at Marshall Auditorium.

Wopat is known for his television roles on the Dukes of Hazzard and Cybill, but he said music is what his career hinges on.

“It’s all interesting and I always have something new coming around the corner,” Wopat said.

Wopat is a Tony-nominated Broadway actor and has worked in movies. He said he always returns to music.

Wopat said he and a jazz trio will perform songs from his work on Broadway and other jazz classics.

“Our deal is music,” he said. “The music we’ll play is music you’re comfortable with. Some you’ve never heard but I guarantee you’ll enjoy it.”

Wopat said he enjoys mixing with the audience before and after his shows and said his show in Clovis will be no different.

“It will be a very relaxed musical evening,” Wopat said. “We’ll have a good time. That’s what we do.”

Wopat’s show Love Swings features songs from stars including Frank Sinatra, The Beatles and Judy Garland. His style has been compared to the great crooners of the 1940s and 50s.
