Man indicted on solicitation charge

A Cannon Air Force Base air traffic controller was indicted Friday on charges of child solicitation by electronic device.

Michael Lee Harvey, 19, was arrested Feb. 10 in Clovis after traveling to engage in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl he met in an Internet chat room, according to a release from the Curry County Sheriff’s Department.

The girl was fictitious, the release said, with the online profile created and maintained by deputies at the sheriff’s department.

Harvey was arrested as he was attempting to enter the house, where he was informed the girl would be, with her parents asleep at the home, according to the release.

Cannon’s Office of Special Investigation aided in the investigation, collecting evidence from his residence, according to the release.

Harvey had been at Cannon for two days before his arrest, according to the release. Cannon was his first assignment.

If convicted, Harvey faces up to 18 months and fines up to $5,000.
