Tucumcari school board discusses allegations of administrative misconduct

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Tucumcari Public Schools Board of Education board member Carlos Romero announced the board discussed "allegations of administrative misconduct" and no action was taken Monday after a 25-minute closed door session.

The executive session was placed on the agenda two days after Tucumcari High School Principal David Castillo was placed on paid administrative leave.

Superintendent Aaron McKinney declined to release the name of personnel discussed in the closed session.

Since the start of Castillo's paid leave Wednesday, administrators from Tucumcari elementary and middle school have coordinated to ensure Castillo's duties are performed.

"I would like to thank the administrative personnel that have pulled together," said board member Christine Dougherty.

Assistant Superintendent Dennis Roch has declined to comment on the allegations.

Castillo could not be reached for comment.
