Clovis High School band members filled 39 of 89 chairs available in the South East New Mexico Music Educators Association’s High School Honor Band after tryouts last Saturday.
Students will travel to Hobbs Dec. 11-12 for the All District Band clinic and concert.

New flags purchased for cheerleaders
Clovis High School varsity cheerleaders have new Wildcats flags, one flag for each letter.
The flags were purchased with $1,200 raised by the booster club during the past two years.
The old flags were faded and the letters were being held on with clear duct tape.
Job program awarded
New Mexico Jobs for America’s Graduates received two national awards, according to a press release.
The program serves youth at-risk of failing high school. In 2008-2009, JAG-NM served 229 at-risk youth in six high schools including Choices alternative school.
JAG-NM received an award for top four high performing state organization in achieving an extraordinary graduation rate of the class of 2008 with a rate of 98 percent. It was also awarded for being in the top three high performing state organizations achieving an extraordinary full time placement rate for the class of 2008 with a rate of 96 percent.
