Jaden Isler in critical care unit in Amarillo hospital
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Hospital staff at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo confirmed this morning that Jaden Isler is a patient in the critical care unit but they declined to release any information regarding his condition or status.
Isler, a Clovis High senior basketball and football standout, was watching a softball game Thursday night in Canyon, Texas, when he collapsed, according to Clovis football and track coach Darren Kelley. He was taken from the field by ambulance to the hospital, Kelley said.
Kelley said Isler had undergone several tests to determine what happened. He said at noon Friday that Isler was in stable condition.
Isler, who on Thursday announced he gave a verbal commitment to play basketball at Division I Charleston Southern in South Carolina, worked out with the Clovis track team Thursday morning and was fine when he left practice, Kelley said.
Isler, a 5-foot-9 point guard, helped Clovis reach the Class 5A boys state basketball title game for the first time since 2001 earlier this month. He finished his four-year varsity career at Clovis as the school’s second-leading scorer and career assists leader.
