Two Clovis residents were arrested Thursday for charges of animal cruelty.

A deputy from the Curry County Sheriff’s Office responded Oct. 9 to a residence on Curry Road N in reference to animal abuse, according to a release from the office.

An emaciated horse was located on the residence and transported to a local veterinarian, according to the release. After examination of the horse, Richard Bain, 42, and Tricia Bain, 36, were arrested on charges of extreme cruelty to animals — fourth-degree felonies.

Both were released Friday — Richard Bain on a $1,000 bond and Tricia Bain on an appearance bond. The horse is in the custody of the sheriff’s office while the investigation is ongoing.

There was no phone listing for Richard or Tricia Bain.

A Clovis teen was arrested Oct. 13 after police said he intentionally ran into a man’s vehicle.

Lonnie Duane Allsup II, 18, is charged with aggravated battery and is being held on a $10,000 bond, according to Curry County Adult Detention Center officials.

A female called police around 4 a.m. and said Allsup tried to make her stay with him at a house in the 1300 block of Pile Street. She said she got in a vehicle with a friend and Allsup followed them, the report said.

The male driver said Allsup drove at them, swerving at the last minute, the report said. The man said Allsup later rammed the back of his vehicle at a stop light, the report said.

Allsup was taken into custody after his vehicle hit a mailbox, the report said.

Allsup is currently scheduled to stand trial in December on unrelated charges of burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and receipt of stolen property. Police have said he and five other's burglarized the home of a Cannon Air Force Base master sergeant in June.

Tye Harmon, Allsup's attorney of record, did not return a call seeking comment.
