Whether you are an artist, a lover of the arts, or a person who simply likes knowing what is going on in this community, you should make time to attend the Pintores Art League Spring Fling Art Show, an easily accomplished task since you can drop by on your own schedule.

The depth and breadth of artistic talent in our community, too often hidden, is revealed at the show. Our community and the surrounding area has artists who have studied at prestigious schools, photographers who have exhibited nationally, individuals who have illustrated well-known children’s books, sculptors who have placed at national championship competitions. (Yes. a skeptical voice might be heard. “We just don’t overprice our work like they do in Santa Fe.”

At this particular art show, assuming it follows the pattern of past years, you can see work done in three dimensions, you can view fine artisic photography, and of course, paintings and drawings in many genres and categories.

 If landscapes are your thing, you’ll very likely see a wide variety of those. If you prefer portraiture, there is usually plenty of variety in that area.

If abstract or impressionistic is your cup of tea, come and sip a cup of tea while viewing some really great examples.

Sculpture takes many forms, and many of those forms are represented here, if the normal pattern emerges. Clay work, wood carvings, mixed media, and an occasional bronze are on view for the public and to display the artists’ talents.

There is also a youth category, where students working in the schools or independently can display their developing talents.

If you truly want to experience the spring fling at its best, make plans to attend the awards ceremony on March 24.

You will have a great chance to visit with the artists, to socialize with your neighbors and friends, and to listen to some outstanding music.
