Public meetings scheduled for regional growth plan

The following meetings have been scheduled to gain public input on the Regional Growth Management Plan. Presentations of the plan will be presented at:

• Cannon Air Force Base Theater, 4:00 p.m., Monday April 20th
• Portales City Hall, 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 20th
• Melrose Senior Center, 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21st
• Clovis-Carver Library, North Annex, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21st

The purpose of this plan, which has been prepared by Keystone International through a grant received from the Office of Economic Adjustment, is to address growth issues in Clovis, Curry County, Roosevelt County and Portales related to expansion at Cannon Air Force Base.

For the past two years representatives from Roosevelt County, Curry County, Clovis and Portales have been compiling information related to Cannon Air Force Base. Areas of the study include Land Use, Public Utilities, Transportation, Education, Health & Social Services, Public Safety and Emergency Services, Economic and Fiscal Impact and Quality of Life.
