State Sen. Clint Harden will have an opponent this November in the race for the 7^th district.

Democratic candidate Jeff Carr teaches history, economics, government and criminal justice at Taos High School.

He resigned as municipal judge at Eagle Nest so he could run for the Senate seat.

District 7 includes Colfax, Curry, Harding, Quay, San Miguel and Union counties.

The Panhandle Press Association will induct two veteran editors into its hall of fame next weekend - Laurie Ezzell Brown of Canadian, Texas, and Tommy Thompson of the Amarillo Globe-Times.

Thompson was a product of New Mexico Military Institute.
