Plains Regional Medical Center is constructing a pharmacy just south of its hospital.
“We believe this will provide another convenient pharmacy option for other members of the community,” said Hoyt Skabelund, hospital administrator at PRMC. Construction began in late February on the 3,250 square foot facility, which will be located on 21st Street and Thomas.
The PRMC-Pharmacy will be open to all PRMC patients, as well as anyone else in the community who wants to fill prescriptions there, according to Director of Pharmacy Peggy Davis. There will also be a drive-through window for customers to drop off and pick up their prescriptions.
Skabelund anticipates construction on the building being finalized in late summer.
“We hope to open for business no later than Oct. 1, 2014,” said Skabelund.
A pharmacy manager has already been hired, and six employees will initially be hired as well. Those positions have yet to be posted, according to Skabelund. Day-to-day operations will be managed by the pharmacy manager.
The contractor on the project is Enterprise Builders Corp., which is based in Albuquerque.
