Wildcats crush Roswell in Classic

ROSWELL — Matt Lanier was a perfect 4-for-4 with a double as Clovis pounded out 15 hits in a 13-1 win over Roswell on Friday in the Southwest Classic.

Derick Kuykendall added a double and three hits while Landon Williams and Kendell Tindle had two hits each for the Wildcats (3-3) in the consolation semifinal game of the eight-team tournament.

Clovis put the game out of reach with a sixth-run sixth, highlighted by Williams’ two-run triple.

The ended after six innings by the 10-run rule.

Andres Tapia went the distance for Clovis, allowing six hits.

Clovis plays Rio Grande in the fifth-place game at noon today.
