Club notes — Jan. 26

The Meals on Wheels Board of Directors met Jan. 21.

President Phyllis Davidson opened the meeting, with following members in attendance: George Boal, Cleta Cook, Pam Kamradt, Mary Weigl, Harold Wuest and executive coordinator Sherry Turner.

Turner provided the monthly report showing 781 meals were delivered in December, with 11,026 meals delivered during calendar year 2013. The finance report was reviewed and members discussed the United Way grant process.

Updates were provided on the Food Fest Fundraiser scheduled for March.

Members are contacting local026 restaurants asking their participation in this worthy cause.

The next meeting 5:30 p.m. Feb. 18.

 

The Roosevelt County Hospital Auxiliary met Jan. 15 Wednesday at Heartland Center.

A lovely brunch was prepared and served by Rosalie Patrick.

New officers were installed by Billie Raether. They are Eva McAfoos, president; Shirley Faver, first vice president; Faye Fenton, Second vice president; Rosalie Patrick, treasurer; Panzy Jordan, secretary.

Outgoing president, Linda Uttaro, presented gifts in recognition to Pat Wood, Carl and Melva Britton and Faye Fenton. Adele Breech was recognized for her years as secretary. Service bars were presented to Sid Phillips for 5,000 hours and Faye Fenton for 20 years.

Incoming president McAfoos announced that the hours have been changed at the hospital gift shop because of lack of people to work. New hours will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. She closed the meeting with a devotional entitled “Burned Biscuits,” reminding members to be aware of the struggles others are facing.

 

The Curry County Extension Club Council met Jan. 13.

The new 2014 Yearbooks were dispersed.

Officers for 2014 are President Connie Miller; Vice President and Secretary Carol Moore; Treasurer Helen Casaus; and Reporter Carol Nash.

Helen reported that we have 71 members in four clubs.

The 2014 budget was approved.

The February Leader Training will be held at the Extension Office 1:30 p.m. Feb. 20.

Quilt Workshops are scheduled for March 3, March 5-6.

The Community Service Project for this year will be making Adult Bibs for nursing homes in Clovis. The Extension Office will provide a pattern.

The next council meeting is 1:30 p.m. March 3 at the Extension Office.
