Texico’s Hollis places fifth

LEVELLAND, Texas — Texico High grad Colton Hollis placed fifth for host South Plains College on Saturday in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region V cross country meet.

Hollis ran a time of 25 minutes, 46.39 seconds over eight kilometers as the Lobos finished second with 31 points, trailing El Paso Community College with 26. SPC’s Antibah Kibiswott Kosgei won the race in 25:15.61, leading a 1-5-6-7 Lobos finish.

SPC advanced to NJCAA national competition, scheduled for Nov. 9 at Fort Dodge, Iowa.
