CHS band wins state competition

The Clovis High School band was the class of the state, taking top honors at the Zia Marching Band Competition, held Saturday at the University of New Mexico.

The band’s show, titled “Anime,” captured first place for the overall competition. It also claimed wins for outstanding music and outstanding general effect.

“It was a good night for the kids, a good night for Clovis,” CHS band director Bill Allred said.

The band will perform again next week in St. George, Utah, for its final competition of the season.
