Road work this week

Area road construction and closure information for this week:

City of Clovis

Norris Street was opened Monday to traffic between Mollie Circle And Wilhite Road.

Norris Street remained closed from the south side of Mollie Circle to Llano Estacado for reconstruction of the area which began with utility relocations as well as the installation of storm drains in the area. During construction, residents living in the Raintree Subdivision will need to use Woodlark Road to Llano Estacado Boulevard to exit and enter the subdivision. Pedestrian traffic for Mesa Elementary should use the east alleyway adjacent to Norris Street. Accommodations will be made to safely cross the construction at the drainage channel.

The Norris Street improvement project is scheduled for completion in January 2014.

Should you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Mr. Justin Howalt, City of Clovis Engineer, at (575) 769-2376 (extension 1828) or e-mail

State and Federal

Construction work will be transitioning on westbound First Street in the ongoing U.S. 70 project in Portales.

Currently, traffic is in the outside or north lane from Boston Avenue to Avenue C. On Friday, traffic was moved to the inside or south lane. With this move, traffic will be able to access both Main Street and Avenue A off of First Street.

However, Avenue B off of First Street, will continue to be closed. Expect some congestion in this area. Also expect temporary closures when turning north off of First Street at Main Street, Avenue A, and Avenue B.
