Fugitive captured Saturday wanted for assault

New Mexico State Police on Saturday at a Clovis hotel arrested a fugitive from Washington state who was wanted for assault, said Capt. Jimmy Glascock.

Glascock said Fernando Jesus Lorea was arrested without incident after officers were able to call him out of his room at the Traveler's Inn and take him into custody without incident.

Police were contacted by authorities from Washington regarding Lorea, 21, whom they believed was in Clovis.

Glascock said police located a passenger car at the Traveler's Inn with Washington registration plates. He said the vehicle was registered to Loera's sister.

Glascock said Loera was arrested on an outstanding warrant for two counts of assault and for violating conditions of community custody. He was booked into the Curry County Adult Detention Center and will be awaiting extradition to Washington.
