Official says fire on Sixth Street possible arson (updated)

The Clovis Fire Department is investigating a possible arson that occured early Saturday morning on Sixth Street.

A Clovis Fire Department offical said a fire that occured early Saturday morning is a possible arson.

A possible arson early Saturday morning on Sixth Street remains under investigation, according to fire officials.

Battalion chief Dale Hand said firefighters responded to a fire around 1:15 a.m in the 600 block of Sixth Street. Four fire engines were on scene and the fire was extinguished around 1:30 a.m.

Hand said the abandoned building was unoccupied. No injuries were reported.

Hand said the fire was the second one the department responded to in the span of two hours.

He said firefighters responded to an electrical fire around 11 p.m. Friday in the attic of a residence on the 500 block of Ross Street. The building was occupied but no injuries were reported.
