CHS assistant recognized

Clovis High School educational assistant Ronna Mares was named the district's Support Staff Person of the Year on Aug. 17 at the Clovis Municipal School's convocation at Marshall auditorium. Mares said her job consists of making copies, doing lamination and running errands for all CHS teachers. Mares said there are more than 100 teachers at CHS. Mares also works in the school's computer lab.

Local photographer's work on display

The work of local photographer Brooke Denton will be introduced 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Eula Mae Edwards Museum and Gallery at Clovis Community College, according to a news release from the CCC Marketing and Public Relations office.

Ribbon cutting set for new building

A dedication and ribbon cutting of the Sisler Allied Health Building and the Kathryn Burns Skarda, R.N., Simulation Clinic will be held 10 a.m. Monday at CCC East Campus. Schedule permitting, Sen. Tom Udall may attend the dedication, according to a news release from the CCC Marketing and Public Relations office.

Cultural Art Series to begin

The CCC Cultural Arts Series 2012-2013 season kicks off 7 p.m. Sept. 22 with the Blues Brothers Revue at Marshall Auditorium, according to a news release from the CCC Marketing and Public Relations office. The show is sanctioned by Dan Aykroyd and The Belushi Estate and combines the comedy and the hits from the original movie.

CCC sponsoring blood drive

Clovis Community College will sponsor a blood drive 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday in the CCC commons area. Appointments can be scheduled at BloodHero.com. Appointments run every 20 minutes. Applicants must have a valid ID, weigh more than 100 pounds and be in a healthy condition to donate. For more information call 769-4154.
