The Clovis Community College board of trustees approved the following agenda items at its Wednesday meeting:
- Five-year capital projects plan submittal. The following projects have been a priority of the committee for the past two years:
The renovation of Former Allied Health Facilities is a $800,000 project to upgrade existing classrooms. It is scheduled to be complete Dec. 13.
The demolition of barracks is a $756,250 project to remove six antiquated barracks and peripheral structures. It is scheduled to be complete Nov. 14.
The renovation of the existing outdoor physical education complex will expand and upgrade existing landscaping, open space and walking track for physical education classes and public use. It is scheduled to be complete Jan. 16.
- Petty Performing Arts Center Submittal:
The Petty Performing Arts Center is a $400,000 project to renovate an existing movie theater in downtown Clovis. It is scheduled to be complete June 2013.
The goal is preserving as much of the building's historical richness as possible, incorporating Americans with Disabilities Act codes, replace outdated building systems and maximizing the center's role as an educational resource.
Its focus will be on accommodating events through the college's cultural arts program.
- Also discussed was the renewal of a TRIO Upward Bound program this September. The program serves high school students by providing them fundamental support in their preparation to enter college.
