A Muleshoe man was sentenced to 37 years in prison on July 18 for shooting a Muleshoe police officer, according to the Bailey County district clerk's office.
According to the district clerk's office:
- Juan Mendoza Quezada, 44, pled guilty to shooting Muleshoe Police Sgt. Steve Bartley in February.
- Quezada waved his right to a jury trial and the right to appeal the conviction.
Bartley responded to a domestic violence call on the 400 block of E. Fifth Street about 11:30 p.m. Feb. 10. He was shot once in the hip and once in the chest, while Quezada was struck several times.
