Police surround a house on the 1100 block of Dusk Street Wednesday night. Neighbors reported multiple gunshots fired at a Southwest Clovis home. Police made no arrests after a 2 1/2 hour standoff, however, the investigation continues, according to a news release from the Clovis police.

Police with rifles surrounded a home in the 1100 block of Dusk Lane for 2 1/2 hours, but left without being able to locate a suspect.

"Nobody was shot," Clovis Police Capt. Patrick Whitney said. There was "no physical evidence at the scene of anyone being shot, such as blood, and no reports from witnesses or any reports from the hospital of anyone being shot," he said.

Whitney said a neighbor told officers a man was firing in the air.

No gunshots were fired while police were on the scene, according to a Clovis police news release issued this morning.

The investigation continues, the news release stated. Allegations are a petty misdemeanor for negligent use of a firearm.

A neighbor who declined to give her name said she heard about eight shots fired and called police. They arrived about 9:45 p.m. and attempted to contact someone inside the residence using a megaphone, the release stated.

"Residents at the suspected address were uncooperative with officers, but neighbors stated that a male at that residence was the one firing the gun in the air," the release stated.
