Thursday morning briefing: A tasty event, a volunteer and a chance of snow

Good morning and welcome to the Thursday briefing.

A tasty groundbreaking

There’s a groundbreaking 2 p.m. Friday at Mid Frisian Dairy in Clovis for

Freanna Original Yoghurt.

The yogurt facility will be owned and operated by Andle and Sjierkje van der Ploeg and family and is said to be an old family recipe.

Volunteer honored

The Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce’s Volunteer of the Month for March is Vern Witten of Portales.

Witten has most recently thrown his volunteer efforts behind Habitat for Humanity of Roosevelt and Curry Counties.

A math professor by vocation, he has also tutored numerous students in the community.

It’s a fact

On April 14th, 1910, President Howard Taft began a sports tradition by throwing out the first baseball of the season at a game between Washington and Philadelphia.

Washington won, 3-0.

Today in history
