Another insurance settlement paid out on behalf of Curry County that wasn’t made public was some $65,000 to former jail Administrator Lois Bean.

County Attorney Stephen Doerr confirmed the settlement on Thursday during questioning about a $450,000 settlement paid a Clovis man for mistreatment while being held in the jail’s juvenile facility.

Bean was fired Sept. 16, 2009 after just nine months on the job and following an escape and the mistaken release of another prisoner. She filed an employment discrimination lawsuit on April 29, 2010.

Doerr said the settlement in 2010 amounted to about a year’s salary for Bean.
