Baby giraffe’s debut still on hold

Public viewing of a baby giraffe born last week at the Hillcrest Zoo remains on hold, Clovis Parks and Recreation Director Bill Bizzell said Monday.

The yet-to-be-named female giraffe has been kept from public view since her birth Wednesday night, the zoo's first of an exotic animal.

"We're still trying to get a plan to reintroduce Jael (the baby's mother) and the baby," Bizzell said.

The yet-to-be-named female giraffe has been kept from public view since her birth Wednesday night, the zoo's first of an exotic animal.

Bizzell said the zoo director would issue a news release when the baby was ready to meet the public.
