Golf course greens damaged by vehicles

The city will work to secure entry points to the Colonial Park Golf Course after four greens were heavily damaged by vehicles Dec. 6, according to Bill Bizzell, director of City of Clovis Parks and Recreation. Bizzell said damage to the greens indicates a full-size vehicle or vehicles spun donuts on the greens.

According to Bizzell:

• Repairing the greens will require the damaged areas to be cut out and new sod laid down.

• The estimated cost of damage is tens of thousands of dollars.

Bizzell said several points, including passages between houses without fences, allow vehicle access to the golf course.

Bizzell said he encourages Colonial Park residents to notify the police of any suspect behavior.
