Empty stocking fund: Family C

Today’s focus: Family C

Household members: 8

Children: 6 (ages 12, 12, 10, 8, 6 and 3)

Special circumstance: This family has had a lot of health-related issues with the husband has not been able to work due to three strokes.

Clothing needs: Boys clothes size 36 in men’s or an XL; two boys wear size 12 and shoe size 8; boys size 6 and shoe size 11; boys size 5 and shoe size 10; girls clothes sizes 12, 12-16 and shoe size 7.

Toys list: Boy 12, wants a bike or a ball; girl, 12, wants Justin Bieber music; boy 10, wants an airplane; boy, 8, wants an airplane; boy, 6, wants Ironman or Thor action figure or Legos; boy, 3, wants Ironman or Thor action figure.

The Empty Stocking Fund is a joint effort of the Salvation Army and Freedom New Mexico. Recipients receive gifts and clothes for their children, and around 300 seniors are given meals on Christmas Day.

Who’s helped: Around 300 families who’ve asked the Salvation Army to help make Christmas special.

Donations: Can be dropped off at the PNT, 101 E. First St., or mailed to P.O. Box 848, Portales, NM 88130. Envelopes should be clearly marked “Empty Stocking Fund.” Checks must be payable to “The Salvation Army.”

Contributions will be forwarded to the Salvation Army office, 317 E. Second St., Clovis, or gifts may be purchased for specific children or seniors by choosing an Angel tag off trees located at North Plains Mall and Walmart in Clovis.
