Tuesday morning briefing: Going postal, holiday fun and Gore gives up

Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Tuesday briefing.

Postal meeting

Mark your calendar for a U.S. Postal Service meeting 6 p.m. Thursday at Clovis Civic Center.

Postal officials will present plans to close a regional mail handling facility in Clovis.

They’re looking for public opinion.

Holiday fun

Winter Wonderland is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Friday at the Portales Senior Center, 421 N. Industrial Drive.

Bring either a toy for Operation Santa Cop or a canned food.

Information: Director Dawn Kryder, 791-7061 or 356-8741.

Kitchen tip

Want to know if your oil is hot enough for frying?

Stick a wooden skewer or spoon in the oil. If bubbles form around the wood, you are good to go.

Quirky quote of the day

“When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries disappear and life stands explained.” — Mark Twain
