Ice has served as a volunteer Ombudsman for more than 10 years, advocating for the rights of residents in long term care facilities. This includes investigating complaints about a resident’s right to fairness, freedom, privacy, and self-determination and all areas of care they receive, while working to have complaints resolved.
Most recently, Ice took the initiative to spend several hours of her weekend to investigate a concern that was important to residents. She was quick to verify the concern and initiate immediate correction by talking to staff while onsite and conducting follow-up afterwards. Kathy Barris, director of the Curry County Retired Senior Volunteer Program, nominated Ice.
