PORTALES — Angelo State ran off the final 10 points of Game 1 to set the tone and the 17th-ranked Rambelles cruised from there to beat Eastern New Mexico University 25-11, 25-15, 25-13 in Lone Star Conference volleyball on Thursday night at Greyhound Arena.

Debbie Ohl had eight kills and three block assists for the Rambelles (26-2, 15-1 LSC), who regained a share of the conference lead with West Texas A&M. Setter Alex Woolsey had a double-double for ASU with 32 assists and a match-high 14 digs.

Senior middle blocker Kristen Beck had 10 kills for the Zias, while junior libero Dallas Russell notched 12 digs and freshman setter Kennedi Catano added eight digs and 24 assists.

A kill by junior Evelyn Escobar pulled the Zias to 15-11 before the Rambelles asserted themselves. Ohl had four kills in the 10-0 run, while Kaelen Valdez added two kills and Shelby Wilt posted a service ace.

The second game was tight for a while. The Zias opened an 8-6 lead on a kill by Beck, but ASU responded with a 7-0 blitz that included a pair of kills from Chelsea Gibson and the Rambelles maintained at least a four-point lead the rest of the way.

The Zias got an ace from Catano to start the third set and led 2-0 before the Rambelles went on a 12-2 surge.
