The Clovis city charter review commission will hold its first meeting 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at Clovis City Hall, 321 Connelly.
Agenda items include a welcome from City Manager Joe Thomas, an explanation of the city charter and the review process from City Attorney David Richards, general discussion and election of a chair and vice chair to the 11-person committee.
Section 7-1 of the charter requires a charter review within 10 years of the previous review. The charter, first adopted in 1971 via a special election, was last reviewed in 2004.
The commission is required to consist of two commissioners, the mayor and one member appointed by each commissioner. It is required to hold at least one public hearing to obtain public input before submitting recommendations to the city commission.
Members of the commission are Mayor Gayla Brumfield, Commissioners Fred Van Soelen and Bobby Sandoval, Clay Bracken (appointed by Juan Garza), former Clovis Mayor David Lansford (Randy Crowder), Tye Harmon (Van Soelen), Ben McDaniel (Len Vohs), former Commissioner Isidro Garcia (Sandoval), Joe Munoz (Fidel Madrid), former City Manager Raymond Mondragon (Dan Stoddard) and John Montano (Chris Bryant).
