Input sought to name new middle school

The Clovis Municipal Schools Board of Education is seeking public input in selecting a name and mascot for the district’s third middle school, which will open in the 2013-14 school year.

The district’s first survey gives residents the option to name the middle school Liberty, Bataan, W.D. Gattis, Llano Estacado, Robert H. McDougal, Clovis or Jim McDaniel Middle School. A second survey asks residents to select either Patriot, Conquistador, Falcon, Tornado as the mascot. Both surveys have write-in options.

Ballots will be linked from the CMS website (www.cms.k12.nm.us) and at district schools. Voters can either make selections online, turn a paper ballot in to the administration office at 1009 Main or call the vote in to the administration secretary at 769-4300.

The top three choices will be presented to the board, which will make selections at the 5:30 p.m. Sept. 27 board meeting.
