The New Mexico Department of Transportation will sponsor a 10 a.m. Saturday child safety seat clinic at Wal-Mart in Clovis.
The free clinic, taking place in eight cities, is part of the NMDOT’s “100 Days and Nights of Summer” campaign. The clinics, which will last about two hours, are held on a first-come, first-served basis.
According to a release from the department, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 3-14. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found that child safety seats cut fatal injuries by more than half, but an estimated 75 percent of child seats are not used correctly.
