Church celebrates 70 years
Immanuel Lutheran Church is celebrating 70 years in Clovis by creating a commemorative medallion, according to a news release.
A small group of Lutheran Christians in Clovis adopted their official congregational constitution on May 7, 1941.
There are eight Lutheran churches in New Mexico with the name Immanuel begun through the endeavors of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Albuquerque and their pastor Rev. Carl Schmid.
Everyone who attends the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Divine Service at Immanuel Lutheran Church will receive a historic commemorative medallion. The medallion is the first in a series of nine medallions, tracing the steps to the start of the Reformation.
There will also be a display of memorabilia and scrapbooks.
