A Melrose high school senior will be following the Curry County Manager to work today.

Richard R. Rush was selected to shadow Lance Pyle as part of the County Manager for the Day program the second year it has been done. The program is part of National County Government Month.

Rush lives on a ranch near Melrose and has achieved a 4.0 grade point average, ranking highest in his class for the last three years. Selected after a series of interviews, Rush has been accepted to Baylor and Harvard Universities and won multiple awards for academic success. He also enjoys baseball and basketball, a press release said.

During his day with Pyle, Rush will participate in an interview panel, attend meetings with department heads and elected officials and conference calls, hear updates on county projects and tour and inspect the Melrose Health Clinic.
