Business digest: Railroad employee honored

A Clovis employee of BNSF Railway was recognized as one of the company’s Safety Employees of 2010.

Locomotive Engineer Rick Spears, who has been part of the Clovis site safety team for more than 10 years, was honored at an April 6 awards ceremony in Fort Worth, Texas.

He serves as chairman and facilitator for Clovis PRIDE (Personal Responsibility in Decreasing Exposure), an employee-driven safety program.

Spears teaches safety courses, encouraging employees to communicate regularly with each other, and developed a multi-day safety observer course for employees.
