LAWTON, Okla. — Cameron’s Ricky Cramer got a double-play ball to escape a bases-loaded jam in the top of the ninth and complete a seven-hit shutout in a 5-0 Lone Star Conference baseball victory over Eastern New Mexico on Friday.
Cramer (1-0) carried a four-hitter into the final inning before surrendering leadoff singles to Blake Thomsen and Daniel Patching and a one-out hit to Joe Huwer. He then got Brandon Devries to bounce into a short-to-first twin killing to end it.
ENMU junior right-hander Andrew Martin (0-2) pitched six strong innings, allowing two runs on six hits with one walk and three strikeouts. He gave up an RBI single to right fielder Kenny Held in the fourth and a two-out, run-scoring single by shortstop Joe Halley in the sixth.
The Aggies (7-1, 6-1 LSC) added three in the eighth — two unearned — off Marcus Drake on a one-out homer by center fielder Chase Larsson, a two-out error by Patching at second base and a run-scoring single to right by catcher P.J. Ortega.
Cramer walked none and struck out four. Thomsen and Huwer were both 2-for-4 for the Greyhounds (1-7, 0-4).
The teams conclude their three-game series with a noon (MST) doubleheader today.
