• Clovis resident Paul Cordova Jr. is running for election to the Clovis Municipal Schools board of education in District 3. He’s running against incumbent Rodney Muffley. Cordova, 39, is the electrical inspector for the city of Clovis.
What are your goals if you are elected and how do you plan to implement them?
Goals: To be a positive voice for our children, to utilize my experience in electrical and construction to aid in the impending expansion and reconstruction of the school district, to help ensure each child receive a quality and fair education, to examine and implement strategies to improve morale among all faculty and staff in each school, to be attentive to the needs of our school district, to be approachable by all members of the community
How do you think budget cuts should be handled in your district?
In regard to budget cuts, I feel it important to research all possible areas that can withstand reduction without affecting the quality of education for students or teachers.
What do you believe to be the role of the board of education?
My role would include the evaluation and implementation of policies for the betterment of our schools, and to be an advocate for our students.
